10 years deserves more than just a pat on the back..

In a time when more than half my family and friends marriages have ended in divorce and a lot of my high school friends still single I feel like every marriage milestone practically deserves a parade to celebrate.

Especially since my husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last month.

Yes you heard me right, 10 big ones!!!!!!! Wow, sometimes when I tell people that they look at me all confused and I see them doing the math in their head... "how old were you when you got married?"

Well I am not that young, as I will be turning 29 this year (yikes!) so I got married right before my 19th birthday. And I know back then a lot of relatives and people looked at us thinking we were crazy and way to young. But maybe thats why it worked we were crazy in love and love has nothing to do with age. Maybe our age was the key to our happiness. When you are young you are more open to love and more open-minded to the possibilities, often naively approaching life. But in that pureness we were willing to make it work and not let other things get in the way. I know alot of people didn't think we'd last. But we did. And those that doubted us sadly most of them ended up divorced.

I feel like as we get older, and supposedly wiser we over analyze situations and people and could overlook our destiny because of a few minor flaws. So maybe its easier to find love when we are younger without expectations and pressure.

I am so happy to be able to say that I was able to marry my first and only true love. I feel so lucky to have met him when I did and to be able to have grown up with him. Its been 11 years since high school and yet it feels like another lifetime. I love looking back at pictures and reminiscing on how we met and our dating adventures. We were so young and yet had so much passion and true love. We made it real and created a happily ever after for ourselves. We made our fairytale come true.

I remember when we had only been dating a couple months he would bring up how I was the first girlfriend he could see marrying. We would always joke and talk about our future life, our kids, our house, and how much fun we would have being in love and happy.

It brings tears of joy to my eyes, I am so beyond blessed and grateful to have met him and so lucky to have him pick me to be his wife and mother of our two beautiful daughters. We are living the life we imagined. And its not always perfect or easy but every single day it has been worth it.

So here we are 10 years later after being married and 12 years later after our first date. I have been with him a quarter of my life, and so this year we decided to go all out and go on a vacation to celebrate our love, and just like a couple of young kids in love we will do that. So in a couple weeks my lover boy and I will have 8 days to ourselves, sans kiddies, to relax in the sun by the pool or by the ocean, from our balcony room on our cruise to the the Caribbean!! I have never been so excited for any trip. I feel like its practically a second honeymoon for us. I can't wait to have my man ALL to myself, without kids or work or life to interrupt. It will just me and you babe!! Let the unforgettable memories begin!!
